Neil Cameron was a leading member of the band of students that disapproved of the Declaratory Act movement in the Free Church of Scotland in the 1890s. In 1896 he was called to the St. Jude's congregation of the Free Presbyterian Church of Scotland, a charge he would serve for thirty-six years. His ministry was signally owned of the Lord and he had a special responsibility in guiding the affairs of the Free Presbyterian Church for the first four decades of its existence.
