Moses: Typical Mediator of the Old Covenant
âMoses was a unique figure in the history of the church. Never again would there be a mere human prophet who would know the Lord so intimately, face to face. His life in so many respects [was] a visible demonstration of the grace of God and of the gospel. He was a mediator through whom IsraelâŠstood before the greatness of the living God. Henceforth they could only look forward to the day of which Moses spoke when he said to them, âThe Lord thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearkenâ (Deut. 18:15). He would be the fulfillment of that of which Moses was only the type.â
